HELP IMPROVE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN NEW ORLEANS TODAY!

  • GET INFORMED!  As community members, it is important that we know and understand the facts regarding education and public schools.

    • Check out SOS NOLA's web portal of public school profiles, Public Schools of New Orleans Close-Ups, to find out what our public schools have to offer.
    • Read up on current news as related to local education in our News & Announcements section of our homepage.
    • Scroll through our Research & Resources page to learn about different studies, reports and research as related to public education policy and practice.

  • GET ENGAGED!  Attend gatherings concerning public schools.  There are currently many public meetings going on around New Orleans dealing with public education issues and the future of public schools.

    • Check out SOS NOLA's Upcoming Events section of our homepage to attend and assert your valuable voice.

  • GET ACTIVE!  This one is the easiest, here are a few ideas.

    • Set up a partnership program through your employer with a local school like George W. Carver High School that badly needs mentorships and tutors, solicit a citizen athlete to volunteer for young athletes like those at Lafayette Academy Charter School who need some coaches, contact your alma mater to have them provide incentive for their college students who will volunteer homework help during their Spring Break for students like the ones at A.P. Tureaud Elementary School, find a corporate sponsor to help schools like L.E. Rabouin Career Magnet High School and Eleanor McMain Secondary School build a gymnasium for their basketball teams that have to practice outside and rent gyms for games, or just go walk through the halls and talk to the teachers, parents and students of your neighborhood public school and listen to their concerns and ambitions regarding their school.
