Public Schools of New Orleans (PSNO) Close-Ups software was developed by 21st Century School Fund (www.21csf.org), however data is collected and maintained by Save Our Schools NOLA (www.SaveOurSchoolsNOLA.org) through support from Ford Foundation (www.fordfoundation.org).
In New Orleans, there are currently 86 open public schools (2 of which operate on split campuses). Each school's campus has a Close-Ups profile, therefore there are currently 88 public school profiles. The primary purpose of PSNO Close-Ups is to provide the public, but particularly parents, with easy access to important information about each public school in New Orleans so that they can make informed decisions regarding education. PSNO Close-Ups is also designed to provide local public school personnel with information on partnerships, services, programs, and opportunities available to schools.
SOS NOLA has compiled PSNO Close-Ups data from several sources, including Louisiana Department of Education website, Orleans Public School Board archives, Recovery School District database, and individual school & charter authority personnel interviews. Some pictures are courtesy of New Orleans' Parents Guide to Public Schools, school maps are provided by Google Maps, and planning district map is compliments of Greater New Orleans Community Data Center. SOS NOLA requests that all sources provide regular updates throughout the year and systematically requests full profile updates twice annually in Fall and Spring. If no information or conspicuous zeroes appear in a field, SOS NOLA has not yet been able to confirm that data.
Save Our Schools NOLA has made a sincere effort to ensure that each school profile contains the most accurate, current information available. Given the constantly shifting landscape of New Orleans public education and the uncertainty that goes with such an environment, keeping up with basic school information can be problematic, but maintaining accuracy of wide-ranging additional school features and details is categorically more challenging. In the event that you find any information questionable or inaccurate, please contact SOS NOLA so that we may verify our sources.
